Our History at ECDS

Emilie Christian Day School (ECDS) is a private school that opened in August, 1958, offering a Christian preschool program to the growing community of Levittown. It began with three classes in the basement of the original Emilie church building.

Upon completion of the church’s new education center and Christian school building in 1994, the classes moved to their present location.

Currently, there are over 160 children enrolled in our school ranging in age from 13 months to Pre-K during the regular school year. All of our programs include care, snack, and a variety of experiences to engage children in socializing and learning fun. Programs* are divided by age/developmental readiness:

  • Childcare services
  • Toddler programs
  • Preschool education
  • Pre-K programs and reading readiness programs
  • After school care
  • Summer programs – children ages 13 months through 4th grade. Some examples of activities that have been traditionally included are as follows:
    • Preschool and Kindergarten summer camps – plenty of outdoor play time, water table use, sprinklers, tubs and sponges water play
    • Day camp for grade school children – trips to Core Creek Park, nature walks at Tyler State Park, Pennsbury Water Shed

*There are half-day or full-day child care program for all class offerings to provide for the maximum in flexibility for your schedule and/or your child’s developmental needs.

The school is maintained by the Emilie United Methodist Church on a non-profit, but self-sustaining basis. The location benefits the children in Levittown and the surrounding areas with ease of access to major commuter routes and ample parking. Emilie Christian Day School is a private school offering Christian curriculum along with all the other early childhood education programming. We are non-sectarian, meaning that we welcome all children, of all background faiths, to join us for learning and fun through our day school offerings.

Quality Local Childcare and Education

From the beginning, our goal has always been to be able to provide families with high quality child care with an accredited program in early childhood education. Thus, we are so proud to be offering our community a Star 4 (highest Keystone Stars rating) child care center.

All of our teachers are certified, degreed, or enrolled in a degree awarding program and have a reputation for being caring and devoted to their young students. They bring experience and commitment to guiding young children through developmentally appropriate learning programs and reach the overall goals of the Emilie Christian Day School.

Emilie Christian Day School’s mission is the same today as when the school first opened its doors to help children to learn to love God and each other, to grow into caring, responsible citizens, and to become the best people they can be!

Overall, we consider it a privilege to be able to guide your child through their various developmental stages – from those early years to transitional years for school readiness and beyond. We feel fortunate to be a part of this learning community and look forward to meeting new friends and continuing our relationships with past students, families and community members.
